Our
terms and conditions of membership are pretty simple and
not weighed down in legal jargon. By joining
Boomerang-ID which incorporates all original Dog-E-Data
members, you agree to these basic terms and conditions.
The
following are some general preamble notes - The actual
T&C are below this.
About The Service:
Boomerang-ID is
a national FreeCall telephone service. The number is
1800 444 364.
Finders of pets with our ID tags call the FreeCall
number 24/7/365 and quote the 4 or 5 digit ID number.
The FreeCall number is answered 24/7 and where it can't
be (due to traffic) a facility for finders to leave a
message is provided.
We are the ONLY 24/7/365 Lost &
Found service for pets in Australia
Successful Recovery:
Boomerang-ID (as Dog-E-Data) has had 100% success
rate in getting registered pets back to their owners
however it is your responsibility to ensure your contact
details are current. We provide a self-service website
for the purpose. Log-In is available via www.boomerangid.com.au
No guarantee of recovery is implied by the statement
above that your pet will be reported to us as found, or
that a finder will (a) quote the correct ID number or
(b) call our FreeCall number. However we will
guarantee that if your contact details are current and
your pet is called in to us that we will call you and
put you in touch with the finder.
Using Additional ID Tags:
Whilst some local councils require a pets name,
address and telephone number to be engraved on an ID tag
we STRONGLY recommend against it. Having a secondary ID
with your personal numbers can often frustrate finders
if they can't connect with you straight away. Secondly,
finders of pets who subsequently call the pets name and
it responds may 'bond' quickly with your pet making the
chances of getting your pet back straight away begin to
diminish.
Microchipping:
We strongly recommend you microchip your pet. Not only
is it law in most parts of Australia but it does help
permanently identify your pet. However DO NOT rely on a
microchip alone to get your pet home.
Recovery
or Call Centre Fee:
Your initial membership covers the cost of ID tags
and the self serve website as well as on-going costs
such as reminders to keep your details current etc.
Our
FreeCall service costs us money maintain on an annual
basis. We have a small 'user pays' fee associated with
each successful recovery or 'Event' (see 'What's An
Event' below)
The Call Centre fee is ONLY invoiced once your pet
is safely back home with you.
Failure to pay an invoice within 30days may mean
termination of membership until it has been finalised.
If you have financial difficulties simply call us on FreeCall 1800 444 364 so we
can make special arrangements for you.

We are encouraged by the fact that many local council
rangers when finding a straying animal call our FreeCall
number and ask us to get the owner to them ASAP and they
won't 'process' the animal leading to a substantial fine
for you!.
We are so confident that the mere use of a Boomerang-ID
tag means (to ranger and animal control officers) that
you really do care for your pet. We we will refund your
membership money in full (minus the physical cost of
the tag/s) if you are fined by council for having a
straying pet AND that pet was wearing a
Boomerang-ID tag at the time it was processed by
council.
We may require a verifying photo which can be taken on a
mobile phone at the council reception area so it is
obvious you, the pet and council are in the same place.
A copy of your fine may also be required to verify this.

The
Registrant (you)
agree to the following basic terms and conditions:
Except
for your rights as a consumer as provided under common law in the states
of New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland, South Australia, Western
Australia, Tasmania, Northern Territory & the Australian Capital
Territory,

You agree that you are the legal custodian of the
animal whose image and details are submitted for inclusion on the
Boomerang-ID database.

You agree that
Boomerang-ID reserves the right to
publish and/or edit your pets photo and biographical data as
supplied to us by you for the purposes of clarity, brevity and
common good taste.

Some details of the registered animal
will be published on this web site and made publicly available.

Your personal details such as residential
address or telephone numbers will NEVER be published on the
Boomerang-ID / EssentialPET website or given to anyone else, however
we may
publish City, State & Postcode information.

We will only ever ask you to confirm your phone
number & street address AFTER we fully identify ourselves
to your satisfaction. This
will only be done if your animal is ever reported as found and we
need to confirm who you are. Do NOT give anyone your private information
over the phone or in an email. If you are EVER suspicious
about someone, ask if you can call them back on 1800 444 364
to confirm they really are from Boomerang-ID.

This agreement is for the term of your animals
natural life unless the agreement is terminated in writing by us or you.
This may be done on a no questions asked basis however the initial
registration fee is non-refundable.

Should your beloved animal companion pass away,
Boomerang-ID has the right post its photo and a short testimonial on
the Boomerang-ID/EssentialPET website. This will be on a part of the site set aside as
a memorial for deceased animals. There is no charge for this however
the memorial is for a set term of 12 months. Boomerang-ID will not
re-use any deceased animals photo for any other purpose without your
express permission.

Links or advertised services appearing on the
Boomerang-ID/EssentialPET website not directly related to
Boomerang-ID/EssentialPET or its affiliates
are neither endorsed or supported in so far as the quality of goods
or services being offered unless noted otherwise.

Your
membership fee covers the cost of life of the pet membership to the
Boomerang-ID database and its on-line facilities and FreeCall 1800 number. The
tags merely reference your dog to the on-line database.

Boomerang-ID tags can be replaced if
lost or stolen. Tags may be purchase for the cost of a new tag -
approx $15.00 incl GST and P&H. Order on-line from MyPAGE.

Registration with
Boomerang-ID should not be considered a substitute for responsible dog control or
registration. Additionally all dogs should be registered with the
local council in your area according to its by-laws. This
includes council registration and microchipping wherever these laws
apply. It is your responsibility to find out about the laws that
apply to your area.

Information provided on the
Boomerang-ID/EssentialPET website, and its equivalent
printed newsletters is for general information purposes only and
should never be used to replace advice from your veterinary
professional.

All photo's and / or articles submitted to and used by
Boomerang-ID/EssentialPET become joint property of info-tv.com pty
ltd for use in any of its publications
and/or broadcasts on Radio, BroadcastTV, CableTV, InternetTV, CD-ROM
or any other digital and/or electronic media and may be used in any
promotions or advertising from time to time.

A Call Centre / Recovery fee was levied on
February 1, 2001 (as Dog-E-Data). It was decided to continue this
small fee after the inception of Boomerang-ID in 2009.
When your pet has been called in as lost by a third party
OR you call us to advise your pet as missing, Boomerang-ID will issue you an invoice
for $35.00 (current @ Jan 2010), being the Call Centre fee referred to
above for any given event (see 'What's An Event?' below).
The fee covers our FreeCall 1800 costs, phone calls to find and
advise you as well as on-going administration of the service. We
will of course use our discretion in charging this fee where death
or injury to the dog has occurred.
By joining Boomerang-ID, you agree to promptly pay the Call Centre
charge should your pet ever be lost and subsequently returned to you by use of the
Boomerang-ID service.
Unpaid Call Centre fees will result in suspension of your membership
and all services until these are paid.

Any pet called in as 'Lost/Found' that has a
Boomerang-ID tag on it and is
subsequently found to be either an Un-Paid Member, a Suspended
Member, or was wearing our ID Tag without being part of a current
formal agreement with any third party will be charged a full
membership fee at the current rate plus the Call Centre Fee.

Other items:
a.
Membership is not directly transferrable to a new owner. If you sell,
give away or dispose of your pet to another person WITH the
Boomerang-ID tag
still attached, you are responsible for any Call Centre fees incurred by
that Boomerang-ID. You should advise any new owner that there is a small transfer
of membership fee to be paid BEFORE they are considered financial
members. They should call us on 1800 444 364 for details.
b. You agree that all information provided on this website is for
general information and entertainment purposes only. You should always
seek qualified veterinary, behavioural and other advice first hand for
the welfare of your animal.
